Barrier Films

If you are struggling to source barrier films and papers right now we are able to offer a number of plastic and paper materials with a wide range of barrier properties. Depending on your requirements we can offer products that offer protection against oil and grease, oxygen, water and aroma. Our film range includes metallised, ALOX coated and EVOH barrier products and we offer OPP and PET alternatives.

PET Barrier grades V EVOH

If you are struggling to source EVOH film we have several PET grades available that provide a great alternative for applications where EVOH have traditionally been used. Both grades contain an ALOx layer in their structures.

Options 1 Primer Coating - are barrier transparent BOPET films. The films have a protective printable layer on top of a high barrier vacuum deposit on one side with the other side treated with a standard primer slip coat.

Option 2 Uncoated / Corona Treated - are barrier transparent BOPET films. The film has a protective printable layer on top of a high barrier vacuum deposit on one side with the other side either untreated or corona treated.

WVTR & OTR: Both grades have acceptable barrier properties for many application types, as illustrated by the numbers below:

Option 1 (OTR & WVTR < 1) Option 2 (OTR & WVTR < 2)

Applications: These films are suitable for barrier applications like dried meat snacks, confectionary, microwavable foods. They are also suitable for hot fill, sterilization, pasteurization, and retort applications (121⁰C / 30 min) and industrial packaging. Please note: Our AIOx is not the typical (more frequently available) bare AlOx, it has a specific coating given offline with two basic functions:
a. Improve the printability of AlOx and improve lamination strength (no primer needed).b.Protect the AlOx from possible scratches (during the printing-lamination process) which would impact upon the level of barrier, since the AlOx is usually quite fragile.

EVOH / PE

Despite the global shortage of EVOH polymer we still have access to a range of EVOH / PE films from a supplier that specialises in up to 9 layer multi-ply constructions for applications such as film lamination, liquid packaging VFFS and vacuum pouches. Other High Barrier Films - OPP, ALOX OPP, MOPP and PET

We can also offer a range of high barrier films made from other polymers such as ALOX coated OPP designed for a wide variety of applications where protection is required.
