Alufoil - A volatile supply chain

The global supply of Alufoil for Flexible Packaging has been extremely volatile in recent times, fuelled by a number of different factors: Anti-Dumping legislation, the war in Ukraine and its impact on energy prices, freight costs and the geopolitical situation generally.

Now it seems the advent of new technologies, such as the demand for alufoil generated by the Electric Vehicle battery industry, will again start to squeeze supply as the decade unfolds.

As a consequence it is now vital to choose strategic alufoil suppliers very carefully. Nu Agencies are pleased to say that we have opened up several new supply routes for Alufoil and we are now able to offer a number of reliable sources of Alufoil for the Flexible Packaging industry and, as importantly, long term partnerships.

Nu Alufoil - Multiple supply options

We can offer the most commonly used Alloys in Flexible Packaging such as 8079 but we can access all other alloys as required. We also offer foils from a wide range of rolling machines but predominantly our suppliers use Achenbach machinery.

Currently (February 24) we have over 300 tonnes a month available (combined) capacity for our customers. But by the end of 2024 we will have access to new capacity which will give us access to nearly 5000 tonnes a year.

In terms of range we can offer all calipers from 6 mic - 20 mics and offer a maximum finished reel width of 1580mm dependent upon which manufacturer we use.

All of the Alufoil we supply is closely monitored for quality and we conduct independent inspection tests before any order leaves the manufacturer.
